Who’s hitting snooze on the climate alarm?

Today we launch our new report on the climate crisis.

This is new for us. We are not the authorities on climate change.
However, when the IPCC’s assessment reports set off the alarm (more clearly than ever), we were forced to take stock.

When we did, we noted that we possess something invaluable: direct relationships with the growers, producers and educators witnessing the impacts of extreme weather events first hand, and doing something about it.

Today, we hand the pen over to them. Their stories bear testament to the critical state of the planet, inspire monumental hope in human action, and act as a rallying cry for everyone.
We are in a climate emergency.

We are seeing more extreme weather events across our farming community than ever before: and the impact is devastating.

Just last week, Thierry and Guy — our Walnut growers in Quercy, France — told us that their traditional, notably sweet Franquette variety would be threatened in the future if we keep experiencing these intensely hot summers.

Similarly, as we move into chicory season, Antonello explains how the warmer winters we are experiencing are preventing his crops from getting the hard, cold frosts that are vital to their growth.

Discover how climate change impacts growers everywhere from California and Mexico to France and Australia.
The IPCC’s report lays out the facts: human influence is responsible for climate change. Our food choices account for ⅓ of all greenhouse gas emissions. This means that every single one of us is responsible.

However, it also means that if we are fortunate enough to make our own food choices, then we have the power to be a force for good.

Hear from the people who are taking accountability through action. Whether they are propping up Mexican subsistence farmers, creating greater access to land in the Pioneer Valley, or planting corn on the front lawn of their inner-city primary school, they show that there is hope in humanity.

Whether these stories prompt you to put pressure on policymakers or simply make a more conscious choice on what you eat tonight at dinner, know the next step is in your hands.
