Lots of Lures
by Hautman Brothers
Fishing lures are the little tricksters of the tackle box, each one dressed up as if it’s heading to a unique underwater costume party. There are shiny spoons that wobble through the water like clumsy disco dancers, crankbaits painted to look like anxious fish, and spinners that spin boldly without a hint of subtlety. To us, they seem like smart tools for catching fish. To fish, they might look like food, a rival, a threat, or maybe just a strange piece of jewelry acting oddly.
The real magic of a lure is that it doesn’t have to look real; it just needs to be convincing enough for a fish to make a bad choice. Some lures are bright green, hot pink, or covered in glitter, making you wonder what fish think their food usually looks like. Others have big eyes, rubber tails, rattles, feathers, or so many hooks they could pass for an old chandelier. Anglers will check the water, weather, depth, season, and fish habits before picking a lure, but often they end up choosing the one that simply “feels lucky.” That’s fishing at its most honest.
Even though they’re small, fishing lures inspire strong loyalty, big disappointments, and spending habits that might worry a financial advisor. A favorite lure isn’t just a tool; it’s a legend, a little plastic hero with scratches, missing paint, and one eye that’s seen a lot. Losing it to a hidden log feels as serious as a shipwreck. Still, hope comes back with every cast, because somewhere underwater there’s a fish ready to believe that a shiny, wobbly lure with lots of hooks is the best meal ever.
Regardless of whether you have ever caught a fish, we think this colorful collage of lures from the Hautman Brothers makes for a really fun puzzle, and our designer really got into the spirit of it with a cool, fishy edge that makes it even more interesting.
Lots of Lures is 503 Pieces and a Level 3.
It has a very irregular, fishy-tale edge and lots of fishing- and outdoor-related whimsies. It would make a great gift for Dad or Grandpa
