Hi Friend - Roxanne here, I manage customer service for nixit.
I’m usually the one answering your questions, troubleshooting, or making product recommendations. But today is Menstrual Hygiene Day, and this felt like one I wanted to send to you instead.
I hear from folks every day who are still figuring this stuff out on their own. People who’ve been told their discomfort is “normal.” People who feel embarrassed asking questions about their own bodies. People who just haven’t been told all their options.
While we've come a long way, stigma still shows up in ways that feel small, but add up.
Like wrapping a tampon in toilet paper so no one sees it in the trash.
Googling your symptoms alone instead of asking someone, because it feels awkward.
Feeling weird or grossed out by your own period blood.
Avoiding intimacy entirely because no one ever explained what’s actually safe or possible.
At nixit, we try to show up differently. We talk about periods openly (no whispering, no weird euphemisms), and we focus on helping people actually understand their options - not just buy something and hope for the best.
We’re also a Canadian company, and we partner with local organizations across the country to get menstrual discs to people who might not otherwise have access. Not just handing them out, but making sure there’s real support behind them - so people feel confident using them, safely and successfully.
If you have questions, aren’t sure what’s normal, or just want to talk something through - you can always reach out. I’m usually the one on the other end.
And if you’re part of an organization doing this kind of work, we’d genuinely love to connect.
Because managing your period shouldn’t feel confusing, uncomfortable, or out of reach.
Thanks for being here - it really does mean a lot to our small business.
Roxanne
