In the Spotlight: The Court's Elle Woods

What do you do? 

I covered NBA basketball for a prominent digital sports media company. It was fun while it lasted, but I felt under-utilized and was ready for a new challenge. I am now preparing to begin law school in the fall and have a long-term goal of becoming an NBA attorney.

 Who is a woman you look up to?

My mother is my ultimate role model. She came from nothing, having immigrated after the Vietnam War when she was 14 years old. She's worked 10-plus hours, seven days a week for as long as I can remember. She instilled a strong work ethic in me and taught me to make the most of the opportunities afforded to me.

What does your morning routine look like?

I love using African Black Soap to wash my face and moisturize with Amazon Primer from Lush. 

How do you style your NUMI? 

I wear NUMI under my blouses and dresses. These undershirts are a godsend because when I use them, I don't have to dry clean my more expensive and delicate pieces nearly as often.

What inspires confidence in you?

Preparation. Whether I'm studying for hours ahead of a test or wearing NUMI on a hot day, I feel confident when I plan ahead and put myself in a position to thrive.

Any advice for women looking to make a career change?

You have to believe in yourself and be prepared to put in the work, because you're basically starting from scratch. Expect there to be a learning curve and days when you feel you made a huge mistake, but if you're industrious and relentless, expect your work to pay off.
