WHEN YOU ARE TRIGGERED BY YOUR CHILD

If you missed "Coffee with Tina" this week on IG Live, I invite you to watch Dr. Christine Cocchiola and I discuss this very important topic.  Click to watch -- hoping it will help to equip you for those difficult times you feel triggered by your child's behavior.

Thank you for being a part of my little village of lemonade makers and light seekers!

With love, Tina

WE BELIVE IT IS A CHILD'S HUMAN RIGHT TO LIVE FREE FROM ABUSE.

We are a national coalition of more than 100,000 survivor parents and concerned citizens in the United States advocating for evidence-based policies which put child safety and risks at the forefront of child custody decisions.

NEXT EVENT: ADVOCACY 101
"RESPONDING TO THE ALIENATIONISTS"

AUGUST 11TH AT 6:30PM EASTERN/ 3:30PM PACIFIC

SPECIAL GUEST: PROFESSOR JOAN MEIER

CLICK TO JOIN

We believe it is a child’s human right to live free from abuse and that child safety, which is implicit in the law, must be made the top priority in practice, in all private custody decision-making. We work with similar national coalitions across the globe, all whom are contending with the same problems we see in the U.S.: Court’s resistance to taking risks and abuse to a child seriously in the context of child access decisions.

NSPO's ongoing LIVE Advocacy Event Series is designed to help support you to raise awareness, bring "The Keeping Children Safe From Family Violence Act" (aka Kayden’s Law in VAWA) to your state, connect you with others in your state to streamline your advocacy efforts. These events will be held on the second Thursday of each month and will feature special guests and cover various topics.

Our next event will be held Thursday, August 11 at 6:30 pm. Please request access for the free advocacy event series and links for the events will be emailed to you on the day of each event. We hope to see as many of you as possible on August 11th!

ATTENTION CALIFORNIA

Please help us flood the CA Assembly with calls ASAP.  Piqui's Law (SB 616) is headed to the Assembly Floor for a vote this week.

Total time needed: 4 minutes or less.

1. Find your Assembly Member:
https://findyourrep.legislature.ca.gov/

2. Assembly Member contact information:  https://www.assembly.ca.gov/assemblymembers

3. Call and read this Assembly Floor Vote Script:

Hello, my name is _____________.  I am  from _____________, CA  (if you are affiliated with a child abuse or domestic violence related organization, add the name of your organization). I strongly urge Assembly Member _________ to stand behind Senate Bill (SB) 616, a bipartisan bill, known as Piqui’s Law.

Piqui’s law, introduced by Senator Rubio, is an important legislative intervention that will help prevent tragic outcomes for children like Piqui who despite the evidence and warnings presented, was brutally murdered in 2017. Ana Estevez pleaded to a family court judge for protection for her son and herself. Her pleas were denied. Piqui was forced into court-ordered visitation with his dangerous father who suffocated him to death.

This is not an isolated case, recently three additional children were murdered in Sacramento during a supervised visitation with a dangerous parent. Their father shot them and the visitation monitor.  In California, since 2008, at least 84 children have been reported as being murdered by divorcing and separating parents or parental figures.

Piqui's Law will help protect victims and their children by ensuring that judges receive critical training on topics such as child abuse, child sexual abuse, trauma, and domestic violence. These are Issues that family law judges & commissioners rule on every single day. The law will also put common-sense safeguards in place that could save the lives of many children.

Every day in California, children are being forced into unsafe relationships with dangerous parents. This needs to STOP and this law will help do it.  I am requesting that Assembly Member_______________ vote AYE for Piqui's Law (SB616) on the Assembly Floor.

We are gearing up for our biggest year yet - and we need your help.

Big news: we are now a 501(c)3 non-profit organization!

In 2020, we did a cross-country trip with press conferences in Los Angeles, California, Little Rock, Arkansas, Charleston, South Carolina, Raleigh, North Carolina, Nashville, Tennessee, Amarillo, Texas and Albuquerque, New Mexico. During the cross-country journey, we met with domestic violence advocates, law enforcement officers, district attorneys, attorneys and judges. The inaugural year efforts were widely embraced by advocacy groups across the country.

In 2021, we asked and you answered loudly: with your help, we secured over
225 proclamations and resolutions declaring November as Family Court Awareness Month in cities, counties and states across the USA.

FOR THE KIDDOS (From Pink Fireworks)

Let’s talk about boundaries! Do you know, there are lots of different types of boundaries?

You have physical boundaries on your body.
You have emotional boundaries for your heart and your peace of mind.
You even have boundaries for your ears! You have a right to be a child, and not hear about adult problems.

What other types of boundaries could you have?

We recently came across an article written about a fifth-grader named Zoe - she put up boundaries with a boy named Noah.  Click here to read more about Zoe's boundaries!

"Lynn Steinburg took a child molester's word as fact - during an televised interview, Steinberg stated,

"This father was being accused of sexually molesting and assaulting his daughter and I knew he had diabetes and couldn't get an erection."

Journalist asked, "How do you know he couldn't get an erection?"

Steinberg responded, "He told me."

In an effort to raise awareness on post separation abuse, we have created a campaign using the words of the abuser. The abuser’s own words paint a picture that is undeniable yet the family court system continues to give the abuser the benefit of the doubt to the detriment of children. Each and every day, children are being sent into abusive situations because “parental rights” continue to trump children’s rights to safety.  For each quote that we use, One Mom’s Battle will make a $10 donation to the National Family Violence Law Center at the George Washington University.

To Participate: Send the post separation abuse words of your abuser to [email protected]

Do you need a divorce coach?

Divorce coaching is a relatively new profession however, clients and attorneys are finding that the divorce coach fills a void that existed in the past.
