Bloomberg just printed an article on a quiet crisis that needs to be taken seriously: the fun shortage in America. "With fewer places to relax and socialize, and steeper prices for entry, having fun is quantifiably harder than it used to be."

Here’s the data. Less time outside and connecting with friends, more time on screens.

And it’s not that we don’t want to get out and play - it’s that it’s gotten harder, and more expensive. Concert prices have gone up 42% since 2019, vacation rentals 38% in that same time, kids summer camp prices are exorbitantly high.

Luckily we’re on the case. A lot of riders got their first board during the pandemic, when fun was in short supply. A Onewheel became a mini vacation right outside the door. A 20 minute reset, some outdoor exploration and something good for the soul.

But Onewheels are expensive too you say! Well, Onewheels are actually one of the few fun things that have gotten more affordable over time.

The Original launched in 2014 for $1,500. Today, Pint starts at $750, half the price. Same story with XR. We launched it in 2018 for $1,800. That's $2,400 in today's dollars. But when we reimagined it as the completely upgraded XR Classic in 2024, we launched it for $1,900.

Our mission is to provide access to fun for as many people as possible. It’s meant finding efficiencies with our US Manufacturing operation and supply chain management. But it’s important work.
