Get to know Ooni Halo Pro Spiral Mixer |
| We recently announced our latest revolution - the Ooni Halo Pro Spiral Mixer, and naturally, you had some questions. If there is one thing we love here at Ooni–it's helping our Ooni Community. So let’s get into it with a bit more detail. |
| What is the difference between an Ooni Halo Pro and a traditional home Planetary mixer? |
| With a Spiral Mixer such as Ooni Halo pro, quite simply, you get better dough. Both the dough hook and the bowl independently rotate, alongside a stationary breaker bar that hangs down beside the dough hook. This trio creates a gentle, efficient kneading motion that mimics traditional hand-kneading. Crucially, that mixing process prevents overheating of dough and delivers better gluten development. That’s why professional bakeries have used large Spiral Mixers for years - quite simply, to achieve better dough than a planetary mixer. Planetary mixers, the most common type found in homes, have a stationary bowl while the mixing attachment (whisk, paddle, or dough hook) moves in an orbital (planetary, get it?) motion. Traditionally, they were more “jack of all trade” mixers that made it easier to switch attachments like a whisk or a beater. Spiral mixers couldn’t do that, because they’re designed with fixed breaker bars that get in the way of whisking (for example). Ooni’s unique patent-pending Removable Breaker Bar ensures that the Ooni Halo Pro can also operate with the Geared Whisk and Flexible Beater for maximum versatility. |

| What is the motor power of Halo Pro? |
| A DC motor powers the Halo Pro. It packs a lot of power in a compact size, whilst also giving you really fine control between speed modes compared to traditional stand mixers. Its power ratings are: 650 W, 110 V, 60Hz |
| What are the gears made of? Is the mixer belt or chain driven? |
| The internal gears are made of Die Cast Aluminium, and the drive system is a reinforced timing belt with a glass fiber-reinforced core and nylon-reinforced teeth. |
| What is the Rotations Per Minute (RPM) range of the Ooni Halo Pro Spiral Mixer? |
| The Spiral Dough Hook rotates from 60-345 RPM, across an incredible 58 levels of RPM control for ultimate speed precision. In addition to this, the Rotating Bowl spins at up to 60 RPM. The innovative Geared Whisk attachment, combined with the Rotating Bowl, delivers over 1000 RPM. Everyone knows you need speed for whipping! |

| What dough hydration does the Ooni Halo Pro work with? |
| Ooni Halo Pro is optimized for kneading dough with a hydration of between 55-80%, but we’ve seen skilled bakers take it out of this threshold all the way up to 100% hydration. Normally, mixers struggle to handle lower hydrations in high volumes as they lack the power of Ooni Halo Pro. Similarly, higher hydrations often struggle to form a quality dough, but with the stronger gluten development that Ooni Halo Pro mixing motion delivers, higher hydration doughs are equally achievable. |

| What is the “pumpkin shape” people are talking about? |
| Due to the spiral mixing method, as your dough mixes it will begin to take on the shape of what we lovingly call “the pumpkin”, created from the ‘folds’ in the dough as it’s kneaded. This signifies that your dough is being beautifully combined into a silky dough. Take a look at this in action here! |
