They are dancing the Giglio in the streets outside our studios, an annual festival that almost always coincides with the hottest days of summer. Summer lasts until October in New York these days, but these peak days will see our last pure summer drops. Abreezylinen is a beautiful linen chemically transformed into something even more. Years ago we ran the predecessor, Breezy Linen, a beautiful European grown and spun linen, woven in northern Italy by Albini. It’s a classic summer linen, light, open and impeccably rendered by what is arguably the best shirting fabric mill in the world. But it suffered a single flaw, which the Abreezylinen not only addresses but transcends via an ammonia process that vests the exact same base fabric with a bouncy demi-stretch, while adding a light wrinkle resistance as well.

Embracing the wrinkle is a key part of the linen territory, but not all wrinkles are equal. A light wrinkle can look incredible, leaving you looking like a movie star on the Mediterranean cliffs, a hollywood wrinkle if you will. But traditional European linen shirting fabrics like the old Breezy Linen were never designed for North American grade machine washing and drying, and that old fabric could often leave the machines twisted into a terrible state. The Abreezylinen solves this problem, almost as an afterthought. The Yoga Relax process uses an ammonia treatment to transform the stiff linen fabrics into stretchy at the cellular level. It’s a light stretch, a demi-stretch if you will, one that feels more bouncy than snappy. But make no mistake it feels great, a linen set free from its stiff constraints, while staying lightweight and open to the breezes. And as a bonus, it makes the fabric less wrinkle prone and easier to keep in those hollywood looks. Abreezylinen.
