Hey Everyone,
Pre-summer came crushing into NYC earlier this week, high time to debut a brand new superlight merino and two brand new silhouettes; Dreamspun is the fabric, Halfdomes and Bigflowers are the cuts.

Dreamspun merino is a brand new fabric designed to replace the old Dreamweight merino. Like its successor it weighs in at a superlight 110gsm, uses a luscious 16.5 micron merino combined with nylon for durability at similar ratios (75/25 for the older fabric, 79/21 for the newer). Where the real difference lies is at the yarn level, but where it is really apparent is when you wear it. While they weigh exactly the same, Dreamspun, somewhat counter-intuitively, uses a thicker yarn and lower density construction to allow for a more open construction that makes it more breathable and less clammy than Dreamweight. It also uses betaspun yarns that should result in a more durable fabric, but it takes years to truly test that so we’re not making any claims yet. Available now in Dust Olive and Midnight Black in three styles. The broad shouldered and high collared Dreamspun Cut Two. The slim and straight Dreamspun Cut One and the brand new Dreamspun Halfdome.

The Dreamspun Halfdome is our take on a sun hoodie, with a less is more approach to the hood. Despite loving sun protective garments we’ve always had a hard time with sun hoodies because the hoods tend to be so floppy and amorphous when up and make the back of the neck too hot when down. The problem is that fabrics light enough to make good hot weather clothing tend not to have enough structure to make good full coverage hoods. It was only when we started thinking of sun hoodies in conjunction with caps that we made peace with the idea of making a sun hoodie. A ball cap is the key to making a sun hoodie work, in a trad sun hoodie with a floppy hood, the cap is what adds the needed structure. But if you are using a cap anyway why not just remove the front of the hood entirely? The Halfdome is built to protect the back of your neck and ears from the sun while letting your cap protect the face. Because it uses less fabric it also runs cooler at the back of the neck and voila two problems are solved. All in the luscious new Dreamspun merino.

Then of course it’s time to give you your flowers. If the Futurelittlebigs are dialed in perfection in a short and roomy short, where do we go from there? The Injex Airs took it shorter, but it was time for the Futurecloth to get bigger. We developed two new styles this year. The Futurebig10s are expected relatively soon and take the Bigs form to a very respectable 10 inches. The Futurebigflowers on the other hand are a lot more dramatic, hanging with a nearly 20” inseam. To make all that length work we need to up the volume too, so we added forward facing 3” deep pleats. And with the fabric flowing like that the flowers earned their name. The Futurebigflowers. Available now in Black.
