With a rainy holiday behind us, summer has started for real in New York. High time for a brand new fabric, Merinolino combines merino performance with linen crispness to create a natural performance shirting fabric with a surprisingly cotton-like structure.

We’ve been making merino t-shirts since 2009, and when it comes to natural performance nothing else compares. Merino is naturally odor resistant allowing for longer wear, naturally hygroscopic creating a dry body climate, and thermobuffering allowing it to be worn comfortably in a wider temperature range than anything else. And knits beautifully into t-shirt jersey, our classic Ultrafine Cut One and boxier Ultrafine Cut Two just got restocked with new colors for that classic stuff. We also just dropped the superlight Dreamspun Cut One, Dreamspun Cut Two and Dreamspun Halfdomes. All amazing stuff, but our holy grail is not knit merino shirts, it’s woven merino shirts and that has proven far more complex.

Merinolino combines 75% Super120’s merino wool with 25% linen to amplify merino’s natural performance with the crisp cotton-like structure we’ve always wanted in our merino shirts. As beautiful as merino can be, it’s inherently a drapey fabric, while cotton shirting is defined by its crisp, starchy structure. Merinolino performs a bit of alchemy, finding the perfect wool/linen blend to conjure up the essence of cotton crispness without sacrificing any of merino’s dry elegance. At 120gsm it’s a lightweight shirt, and the linen adds a touch of openness as well, although the merino is truly the dominant character in this mix. Available now in two yarn dyed colors, Graypoint and Bluestripe.
