🇧🇮 ✨ Now Roasting: Burundi - Gahahe
Our second and final Burundian coffee of the season comes from Gahahe, a fantastic washing station in the red clay hills of Kayanza Province serving over 1,700 nearby farmers.
This fully washed lot is an excellent rendering of flavors we've come to love in East Africa. Look for a warm and complex cup with immaculate clarity and layered sweetness - we taste cranberry, golden raisin, dried fig, honey, brown sugar, orange peel, and lovely, subtle florals.

📝 🤝 Partner Story: Gahahe
Check out an excerpt from our newest release's Partner Story, written by our Green Coffee Buyer, and click the link below to read the full story:
Burundi began to focus on specialty coffee production in 2008 while rebuilding an economy devastated by civil war. In the years following bureaucracy has imposed some of the most significant constraints on quality and traceability. Otherwise, the conditions here are excellent for coffee production. Nearly 100% of the coffee cultivated is heirloom red bourbon, and the weather is usually favorable for washed and natural process coffees alike.
The farms here are incredibly small - a hectare or two at most - with an average of only 250 coffee plants. Coffee will ripen gradually throughout the harvest, so what you'll see is farmers making frequent, small deliveries, carried by hand or balanced on the seat of a bicycle, to central washing stations or to more remote collection points. For this reason proximity determines which organization a farmer sells coffee to - a perennial challenge for exporters because the same collection points are licensed to different parties annually and according to projected yields. In all cases a finished lot represents the combined work of an entire community.

🪫 🇭🇳 Last Chance: Honduras-Edin Lopez
The balanced, comforting coffee, Honduras - Edin Lopez, will only be available for the next few days. Consisting entirely of the pacas variety and presenting beautifully on filter and espresso preparations, this coffee's profile reminds us of milk chocolate, hazelnut, and toffee, along with crisp notes of red apple and pear.
The last day to order Honduras - Edin Lopez will be Tuesday, June 23rd, so be sure to order this limited release single origin before it's gone!

📚🎧 What We're Listening To: The Book Club
If you've ever finished an incredible book but aren't sure who to talk about it with, I've got a podcast for you! Introducing: The Book Club. As the title suggests, this podcast alternates each week between discussing beloved classics (The Great Gatsby, Frankenstein, East of Eden) and contemporary novels of BookTok fame (ACOTAR, Hamnet, The Hunger Games).
As the hosts, Dominic and Tabby are historians; I really love their thoughtful analysis of the books' plot and characters, along with the added historical context of the author's life in the conversation. That said, if there's a book they've covered that you haven't yet read, be prepared for spoilers. I highly recommend listening to an episode alongside your morning coffee.

| Ghost Town Decaf - Specialty Instant Coffee |
|
| "A prefect robust decaf. It’s an instant that doesn’t taste like an instant. Rich and robust. Abundantly tasty. Don’t be fooled by it being decaf, either. It hits all the feels at the end of the night when you want coffee but don’t want the caffeine. Makes an awesome Irish coffee, too." -Katherine P. |
