This week’s featured Black-owned independent bookstore: Source Booksellers
Today we are excited to kick off a bi-weekly series featuring some of the country’s Black-owned bookstores. These small businesses, many of which have been impacted by Covid-19, are vital voices in their communities and we’re happy to share their stories with readers everywhere.

Source Booksellers in Detroit’s Midtown District has been owned and operated by mother-daughter team Janet Webster Jones and Alyson Jones Turner since 1989.

Specializing in adult and children’s nonfiction, with a focus on history and culture, women and the arts, health, well-being, and spirituality, the duo has served generations for more than 30 years.

Here are the essential reads Janet Webster Jones is recommending for her readers this week.

For more like this, check out Source Booksellers and join us in supporting the Black-owned bookstores in your communities.
