And More! This week the US Supreme Court ruled in favor of women’s healthcare rights. But this ruling isn’t so much about protecting those rights from Republicans, just merely from a small group of angry “doctors.” These judges now know enough not to take rights away before elections. It’s after elections that they can better get away with it.
And after the Republicans committed to spending close to a hundred million dollars to win over the people of Milwaukee and possibly Wisconsin in November by holding their convention here in our hometown, yesterday Donald Trump called Milwaukee “a horrible place.”
Maybe choosing the kind of place that supports a half dozen Penzeys stores as the spot to try and crown their man king wasn’t the brightest idea. With how fast this is all unraveling I can’t help but feel this is going to be in its own unique way a whole lot of good fun. We shall see.
Something New! I’m sure this will take a bunch of repeated explaining before I get the words just right, but we have now started something we are calling the Spice Drive. The idea is, partnering with a group that helps supply food to those in need and having them pick out some spices or seasonings they think would mean something to those they are trying to help.
The thought is our customers could buy one or more of these while placing an order and Penzeys would match your giving one for one. We’ve been doing this on some level all on our own for years now. We know spices are always at the top of wish lists. With your support we could get good and meaningful spices to a whole lot more people who could use them.
Even though the spices wouldn’t be coming to you but go directly to these groups, any spending you have would count toward your total spending to reach free shipping.

Who knows what the future holds, but the plan is to have maybe a series of groups that changes every 2-3 weeks. Our hope is if this works online to carry it out into our stores to do the same with groups that are local to our store communities.
