Friend,
I've been calling grassroots donors to say thank you. Behind every contribution is a person who made a choice to believe in this work, and I want them to know I don't take that for granted.
One call in particular stuck with me. I reached Jon in New Mexico – he'd chipped in $10, and I wanted to let him know that his decision to contribute meant something to me. Before we hung up, his wife got on the phone and said: "You're one person who gives us hope for the future."
I'm going to do my best to live up to that.
The people who chip in $5 or $10 to Win the Era aren't writing blank checks to a political machine. They're making a considered decision to invest in a different kind of politics. And what I hear on the other end of the line keeps me going – people who are frustrated, yes, but who haven't given up. Who still believe that if enough of us pull together and do the work, things really can change.
I don't take Jon's contribution lightly. Or yours. When someone reaches into their pocket and makes a bet that this effort means something – I feel the responsibility that comes with that, and it propels me every time I get on a plane, walk into a room, or knock on a door in a place that doesn't always get attention.
If you'd like the chance to hear from me directly, I hope you'll consider becoming a grassroots donor to Win the Era today. Even $5 or $50 makes a big difference, and I am going to be making as many calls as I can in the coming months:
