This isn’t a comforting message, but it’s an honest one.

Friend, 

Picture the last ten minutes of just about any adventure movie you've ever seen: The music picks up tempo. The odds tighten. And somehow, right on cue, the good guys pull it out.

We've watched that sequence so many times we've started to believe it's just how things work – that decency wins in the end, because that's the shape a story is supposed to take.

But it isn't so easy. Real life doesn't come with a script, and nobody's scoring the moment for us. Good doesn't win because it's owed a win. Good wins – when it wins – because people went and made sure of it, showing up again and again on the days it would have been easier not to. The direction of history is not automatic, and being right has never been the same thing as being organized.

That's not a comforting message, and I'm not going to pretend it is. 

It's just the truth. Nothing about our story is guaranteed to turn out fine. When it ends well, if it does, it will be because enough of us treated it like our job rather than someone else's.

I'm committed to spending these next four months in the places doing what I can to help out those who deserve to win – traveling to rally voters, uplift candidates, and take our message to as many people as possible.
