Friend,
You're not alone if you refuse to be told we can't possibly afford good schools, safe roads, and decent rural hospitals – while the wealthiest people in America pay a lower tax rate than the teachers in those schools, the workers on those roads, and the nurses in those hospitals.
You're not alone if you demand that people in public office put their self-interest aside and serve with integrity.
You're not alone if you believe the people should choose their elected officials – not the other way around. And if you're sick of watching unpopular leaders get elected with district maps in shapes that look like a piece of abstract art drawn by a pre-schooler.
You're not alone if you think money in politics has gone way too far, and needs to be reined in before our democracy is fully bought and paid for. And if that takes a Constitutional amendment to deal with Citizens United – then let's have a Constitutional amendment.
These aren't radical ideas. They're common sense. And the fact that majority-held positions now seem radical says everything about how broken things have gotten.
The people who benefit from the broken system are counting on you to feel alone. To feel like your frustration is a minority opinion. To give up.
Don't give them that.
If you're ready to fight for a system that actually works for everyone, then chip in today. Every dollar is a signal that you're not sitting this one out.
