WHAT FRAGRANCE REALLY MEANS?
“Fragrance or Parfum” isn’t one ingredient.
It’s a label.
A catch-all term that can cover dozens of chemicals—most of which you’ll never see listed individually on any skincare inci list as brands don't legally have to. For consumers trying to understand what they're putting on their skin, that can make things confusing.
One of the most common ingredients inside it? Phthalates.
Their job is simple: to help fragrance last longer by slowing the evaporation of scent molecules and helping the fragrance remain on the skin.
Why that matters?
Phthalates are widely used in cosmetics and personal care products, but they’ve also been linked to hormone disruption in multiple studies—which is why their use is increasingly restricted in parts of Europe.
(Several phthalates are now banned in the EU for use in cosmetics under REACH regulation, but many are still used. Sometimes you may see names like DEP, DBP or DMP—but remember they can be hidden behind the word “Parfum”.
The important point isn't to create fear. It's simply to understand what's inside the products we use every day.
At Pinks Boutique💗We've always believed that skincare should be built around ingredients that serve a purpose for the skin.
That's why we don't rely on cheap synthetic fragrance systems or phthalates.
Instead, our products are scented naturally through the beautiful organic ingredients and essential oils they contain.
Nothing hidden.
Nothing unnecessary.
Just certified organic ingredients chosen for both their performance and their integrity.
Nothing but the truth.
