Four Ways to Protect Your Landscape

1️⃣ Water Deeply, Not Daily

A slow, deep soaking encourages roots to grow downward, making plants more resilient when temperatures soar. Water early in the morning whenever possible, so moisture reaches the roots before the afternoon heat arrives.

2️⃣ Mulch is Your Best Friend

A 2–3-inch layer of mulch helps the soil stay cooler, slows evaporation, and keeps moisture where your plants need it most. It may be one of the simplest ways to protect your landscape during extreme heat.

3️⃣ Give New Plants a Little Extra Attention

Newly planted shrubs and perennials haven't yet developed deep root systems. Check the soil every few days and water when the top inch feels dry. Once established, most plants become much more resilient.

4️⃣ Hold Off on Pruning

When temperatures climb, let your plants focus on staying hydrated. Save major pruning for cooler weather, as it can add unnecessary stress.
