Meet our winners, and the people they’re most excited to spend 2019 with: 1st Place Anna Powell Teeter (@annapowellteeter) “My friend A. and I had been talking about making portraits together, so I invited them to my studio. I shot three rolls of film and at the very end the sun came out. I picked up my SX‑70 and rearranged the fabric so it caught the light. This was the last photo I made during our time together that afternoon.” Shot on SX-70 → Runner-Up Josh Danggit (@joshdanggit) “Inspiration for my photo was my nephew Lucas. I can’t wait to spend this next year with him, watching him grow and develop more of a personality!” Shot on 600 → Runner-Up Jessica MacCorcrain (@maccstagram) “I snapped my Mum with Minnie (my 6 year-old niece) using my Polaroid Spirit 600. When my parents were leaving to go home to Australia, Minnie said to me, ‘I'm sad they are leaving but I don't want to cry in front of everyone.’ That made my heart sore, but these Polaroid memories even more special.” Shot on 600 → Runner-Up Matthew Hammond (@matthewjhammond) “For Christmas my partner (who's also a photographer) and I bought ourselves a vintage SX‑70 as a present to each other. I took this photo of her in our flat as one of our first shots, looking forward to another year of photography, travelling and other adventures together.” Shot on SX-70 → All eyes on Arvida. Artist Arvida Byström uses her bold, colorful and provocative imagery to explore topics related to femininity and identity in our screen-obsessed lives. She collaborated with us to create a photo series about what it means to find romantic connections, both online and IRL. Plus she talked to us for the magazine about her creative process, and why she thinks our phones are like “modern day Cupids.” Read More Psst.
