Yesterday was the busiest day of the preseason so far, with 10 games spread out throughout the day. While plenty of teams rested their starters, there were teams that played their starters, and plenty of late-round options that were playing with the backups.
The headline of the day was this 2026 wide receiver draft class. Typically, third-round rookie wide receivers aren’t worth a late-round draft pick in fantasy drafts because they are expected to be backups all season. However, yesterday gave us more evidence that Malachi Fields of the New York Giants, Caleb Douglas of the Miami Dolphins, and Ja’Kobi Lane of the Baltimore Ravens are all among the top three wide receivers on their depth charts. While Ted Hurst III of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers might not be top three, the fact that he left the game at the same time as Baker Mayfield suggests he could have a big role.
It wasn’t all good news for these mid-round rookies. Antonio Williams of the Washington Commanders and Elijah Sarratt of the Baltimore Ravens appear to be buried on their team’s respective depth charts, while Zachariah Branch's ceiling appears to be a slot-only role.
We also saw notable changes to the backup rotation for a few backfields, and a sleeper tight end’s playing time this week should have him moving up draft boards. To find out more details about all of the players mentioned here and so much more, check out the Saturday fantasy football recap.
Don’t forget, there is one more game tonight between the Tennessee Titans and Seattle Seahawks, where at least the Titans will play their starters for much of the first half, and we should learn more about their running back and wide receiver rotations.
