We have reached the first week of the regular season, and that awkward stretch when some leagues still haven't held their fantasy draft. I have my last one later tonight. Even so, it's time to look ahead to Week 1.
This season is particularly odd because it opens on Wednesday night on NBC with a Super Bowl rematch between the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks. That means you will need to decide which Patriots and Seahawks are in your lineup before we get our first injury report for the Monday night game between the Denver Broncos and Kansas City Chiefs.
We have adjusted our usual weekly calendar to match, and the Week 1 rankings are already out to help you set those lineups. Plenty of analysts publish rankings, but you won't find any more consistent than mine. In the FantasyPros accuracy competition, I am one of three analysts to finish in the top 20 for in-season accuracy in seven of the last eight seasons, and no one has done it in all eight. FantasyPros only scores quarterbacks, running backs, wide receivers and tight ends. Among analysts who also rank kickers, team defenses and IDP, mine have been the most accurate in each of the last seven seasons. My IDP rankings article goes up Wednesday.
You can find my Week 1 offense, kicker and team defense rankings here. They will be updated constantly through the rest of the week with the latest injury news. For anyone still drafting tonight or tomorrow, good luck, and to everyone else, let's get ready to start the season 1-0.
