Week 2 Start/Sit: Don't worry about great players with few Week 1 targets

Week 2 begins tonight with a matchup between the Detroit Lions and the Buffalo Bills. Until kickoff, it is time to set your lineup. For the most part, you’re still starting all of the players you drafted highest as long as they are healthy, with a handful of exceptions based on Week 1 performance.

Two players I would keep in my starting lineup despite Week 1 are tight end Colston Loveland and wide receiver Jaylen Waddle. Both players were drafted as weekly set-it-and-forget-it starters, but Loveland went without a catch while Waddle caught one pass for 2 yards. It would be concerning if their playing time wasn’t as high as we expected, but that wasn’t the case. Loveland was running routes as much as he was at the end of last season during his breakout, while Waddle was rotated out a little bit, but that was expected given head coach Sean Payton’s history.

In Week 1 last season, A.J. Brown had one reception for 8 yards, and Michael Wilson had one reception for 5 yards, and both ended up as top-12 receivers. Targets for receivers vary from one week to the next, and one bad game isn’t enough to keep these two out of starting lineups.
