WNF Recap: What the Seahawks Backfield Usage Tells Us Going Forward

The NFL season is officially underway, and Wednesday night's opener gave us plenty to work with from a fantasy standpoint.

The situation I'm watching most closely out of Seattle is one I flagged all offseason. I spent months warning against Jadarian Price at his ADP, and Wednesday confirmed the concern. The Seahawks replaced Kenneth Walker III with Price in the early-down role and slotted George Holani into Zach Charbonnet's old job on third downs and in two-minute situations, with Emanuel Wilson handling goal-line snaps. Different names, same structure.

Price looked explosive when he touched the ball. The problem is the same one that made Walker and Charbonnet both frustrating to own last season: the committee limits the ceiling for everyone in it. Sam Darnold's health adds another variable. If Drew Lock is under center for any stretch, the game scripts get harder for Price and his snap share shrinks.

There is a path forward. Seattle has extra time before its next game, and matchups against Arizona and Washington follow. Even with Lock at quarterback, those are situations where Price can produce. But owners should not expect the committee role to change.
