Hi ,

There are so many feelings out there about AI.

Some folks love it, some hate it, I am guessing most fall somewhere in between.

Is it over-hyped? Painfully.

But I also think its usefulness is under-appreciated by tons of people.

However you might feel about AI…

Arduino has gone all in on AI capability with its new family of Arduino Q boards.

Arduino identified some narrow AI applications - like image classification, video object detection, and audio wake-word detection - and “packaged” them into easy-to-use software tools called “bricks”.

So just like you might use a sensor to read the temperature or humidity, you could use a software brick to identify a specific object in a video stream, or a certain word being spoken.

They also have enabled extremely easy two-way communication with cloud LLMs using software bricks. You can even run small LLMs locally.

Now these new Arduino Q boards are NOT replacing traditional Arduino boards - they are just another family, like Nano, Mega, or Pro boards.

The Q boards run a full Linux operating system - they are single-board computers, like Raspberry Pi…

Unlike the Raspberry Pi though, Arduino Q boards have a really powerful microcontroller on the same board that is designed to be used like a traditional Arduino board.

That means all the cool stuff you can do with a traditional Arduino board, you can also do with Arduino Q boards.

Q boards are absolutely NOT the solution for every electronics project that comes to mind - but they are definitely a useful tool to have in your toolbox.

Check out this video from our new Arduino App Lab and Q Course about when a Q makes sense for your project:
When to use an Arduino Q

If you want to learn more about the new App Lab and Q Course, you can check it out here.

If you decide to sign up, you have two options - you can get access to the course by becoming a PEA member (then you’ll have access to ALL our courses), or you can buy access to this course directly.

If you have any questions about the Q or the new training, please feel free to reach out!
