Do you remember when summer days seemed to stretch on forever?
Now it seems there’s never enough time to even get through all the daily duties of adult life. Time just stampedes by in a flurry of unfinished to-do lists. I haven’t managed to figure out a physics-based solution for this actual, increasingly rapid, march of time. But what if there were ways to help it feel slower, more expansive again?
Science journalist and guest columnist for Vox’s Your Mileage May Vary, Shayla Love dives in to brilliantly answer this very question that recently came in from a reader. In this advice column, she explores the potential benefits of skydiving, considering our mortality, watching the grass grow, and simply washing dishes.
So now, thanks to Shayla, I’ve been able to find many more moments this summer where time can stretch out once again, just a little more languorously, like it did in childhood. And in it, even the dishes are still getting done. Now, so much more pleasantly.
