What if the US cut off aid to Israel?

Democrats are divided on Israel, but more and more politicians are coalescing around a demand to cut off offensive military aid in protest of the country’s human rights record. On the left, Candidates like Michigan Senate nominee Abdul El-Sayed have co-opted MAGA’s “America First” slogan to argue that spending on Israel should be redirected back home. Even some centrists like Rahm Emanuel are making the case that cutting off aid would help reset America’s relationship with Israel. As Vox’s Eric Levitz writes, though, ending aid is unlikely to change Israel’s behavior on its own — and further-reaching measures like an arms embargo might not either. What would it take to force a bigger shift in policy?
