Enjoy a summer that lasts (with aircon)
Nothing beats a great British summer – pity that we rarely get enough of it. For once, the Royal Academy is in a position to make the weather.
Join as a Friend today to extend your summer with unlimited access to two hot-ticket exhibitions: the Summer Exhibition, our unmissable annual celebration of British and international art, and our dazzling autumn show, Painting the French Riviera.
Summer Exhibition open now
The Summer Exhibition is an unmissable celebration of all that's exciting and essential in art and architecture right now. But as tennis is to Wimbledon or music is to Glastonbury, so the art is only half the picture at the RA.
It's about joining in, catching up, being present, bearing witness, getting together – and with late openings (till 9 PM) on Fridays and Saturdays, there's even more time to spend with your nearest and dearest.
Painting the French Riviera
Our big autumn show, Painting the French Riviera, is an opportunity to bask in the glow of summer for a while longer. It tells the story of how the greatest innovators of modern art – including Cézanne, Matisse, Monet, Picasso, Klein, Renoir – were dazzled by the joyful blues and eternal warmth of the French Mediterranean.
Sign up as a Friend for tickets to preview days and unlimited access to a hot-ticket show.

Ugo Rondinone on his epic rainbow sculpture
As recent visitors to the Royal Academy may have noticed, an unusual rainbow has appeared over the courtyard. Its creator, Ugo Rondinone, tells us the story of grief and hope that inspired the making of this year's Summer Exhibition courtyard installation.
Summer Exhibition after hours
Friday-night lates with guest DJs
For a few special Friday nights this summer, the Royal Academy will feel a little extra joyful. In a new series of lates as part of the Summer Exhibition, we've invited guest DJs to help us celebrate great art with great music.
Free for Friends and Summer Exhibition ticket holders. Do book in advance to avoid disappointment.
