2 businesses?
Back at the coffee shop and thinking about business focus.
Over the decades, I've had a hybrid separation of business focus.
One one hand--I have the pure "play" stuff.
Stuff I'd do for fun, regardless of payoff.
Businesses that may (or may not) generate significant income.
Then, I've got my pure income businesses.
Something that, while I enjoy, isn't necessarily my "legacy".
It pays well.
Very well.
Brings people value (VERY important!).
It's about seeing opportunities and going where the puck is headed.
I think the phrase "business opportunity" gets a bad rap because it's become synonymous with low-quality shiny objects that sell a dream it never delivers.
It's ok to go for the moolah if you have something good to offer.
Right now, it's clear AI is just at it's infant stage.
And there's a massively wide (but limited time) window of opportunity to offer high-quality "shovels".
Yeah, I went there.
Of course, you can do great teaching people over 50 to get fit. Absolutely.
But you might make even more with a side business offering simple tools to pilates instructors who want more online income.
Again, ain't no shame to offer tools with integrity in these wide-open spaces.
The proposition is simple.
"This tool solves this problem. And if you're in this market, I think you'll find it valuable. It's just $X".
Low-ticket tools.
High-value proposition.
Super-narrow niches.
For the super-motivated--you gain market share with a catalog of rotating products that require no teaching, no coaching, no tech and no support.
Today?
Get honest with yourself and think about what you want with your solopreneur business.
Are you cool with selling shovels as a limited-time business knowing it's not your life's work?
Some are. Some aren't.
This ain't for everyone.
But I think it's good we have the honest conversations.
It's not an ALL or NONE game.
You can do 2 things at once.
Now if you'll excuse me, the hot tub is calling my name.
Let's Play, Ryan
P.S. I'm still working on a pretty cool offer that'll give you sellable, zero-hype "shovels".
