Good Afternoon Sabah People,

We're happy to introduce our friend Mitsuru Lowe, the artist behind Peaboy - a project he started with his daughter so they could hand-dye clothing together, simply for the joy of making something by hand.

Today, Mitsuru creates beautifully tie-dyed upcycled apparel and accessories, sharing his work through pop-up workshops, special brand collaborations, and a handful of retail partners. Last week, we visited Mitsuru to learn more about his process, his practice, and the story behind Peaboy.

This Sunday, August 9th, Mitsuru is bringing Peaboy to Sabah House Brooklyn for a day of tie-dye, community, and good company.

Join us for tie-dyeing from 11 AM - 6 PM, with a complimentary sake tasting and Japanese shaved ice served from 2 PM - 5 PM. Read on for more details -- we hope to see you there!

Tie-Dye with Mitsuru.

At his current pop-up shop at Bin Bin Sake in Greenpoint, we learned that growing up around skate and surf culture shaped the way Mitsuru thinks about clothing today. Rather than buying something new, he finds satisfaction in giving existing garments a second life through color.

Rooted in a Japanese appreciation for well-loved objects, his practice is about using what we have, caring for it, and keeping it in circulation for years to come - the same way we think about Sabahs.

Bring an old T-shirt, tote, or another well-loved piece that could use a new life! We'll also have handkerchiefs available to tie-dye. Leave with a one-of-a-kind piece and a little more color for the rest of your summer.
