Mat Collishaw presents Allluvion, a new collection of slow-motion moving-image works exploring mutation, artificial evolution, and the unstable boundary between beauty and unease. A central figure of the Young British Artists movement, Collishaw has spent decades examining the psychological power of images and the tension between seduction and disturbance. In Allluvion, flowers and insects fuse into quasi-living hybrid organisms - petals stretch into membranous wings, stems articulate like antennae, and botanical structures pulse with a faint animal vitality. Suspended in time, the works invite close inspection, revealing subtle movements that suggest forms caught between growth, decay, and transformation.

Created through generative systems trained across multiple botanical forms, the works simulate a kind of speculative evolution where traits are recombined, exaggerated, and destabilised beyond ecological logic. Drawing on the visual language of 17th-century vanitas painting, Allluvion transforms the still life tradition into something more unstable and contemporary. These hybrids feel less like products of nature and more like artefacts shaped through technological mediation - seductive, uncanny, and quietly unsettling. Accompanied by a somber, elegiac score, the works unfold with a sense of inevitability, reflecting on a future where the boundaries between organic life and human intervention become increasingly porous.
