R. Gopakumar presents Horse Run, a new digital art collection bringing the power and elegance of the horse into a constantly shifting world of texture, light, and motion. The Indian multidisciplinary artist has built an international practice at the intersection of art and technology, with work presented at institutions and exhibitions including Saatchi Gallery, Tate Britain, the Kochi-Muziris Biennale, The Wrong Biennale, and the Museum of Contemporary Art. Drawing from a background in fine art alongside digital experimentation, Gopakumar creates works that challenge how familiar subjects can be experienced through contemporary media.

Inspired by the rich equestrian heritage of the Arabian world and the energy of horse racing, Horse Run reconstructs the horse through flowers, leaves, fur, reflective fragments, weathered surfaces, and organic textures. These elements continually converge, dissolve, and reform, transforming the animal from a fixed figure into a fluid experience of movement and perception.

The collection also pays homage to Eadweard Muybridge’s pioneering studies of animals in motion. Where Muybridge separated movement into individual frames, Gopakumar takes it in another direction, using layered visual rhythms and digital processes to create forms that feel perpetually in motion. The result is a contemporary study of one of art’s most enduring subjects, reimagined for the digital screen.
