Update to Green Lithium’s campaign: UK refinery given green light
Hello

We have an exciting update to Green Lithium’s campaign to share with you. Today, the BBC have reported that their plans for the UK’s first lithium refinery in Teesside have been given the go ahead by local authorities.

Before this news, the campaign was proving to be one of the most successful raises of the year on Seedrs, having raised £2.4m from nearly 2,000 investors (196% overfunding). Plus, the valuation for the raise was set before the authority to build was granted.

Their campaign is due to close on Wednesday 2nd August. This will be the last opportunity to join Green Lithium's mission before their Series A.

According to the article, Green Lithium aims to open the plant in 2027, which could create thousands of jobs for the area.

Comment from Green Lithium CEO Sean Sargent
“I'm thrilled we've been granted permission to set up a lithium refinery at the Teesport site, which we believe is an ideal location for producing low-carbon and environmentally-friendly lithium. The region has an amazing pool of people who are skilled in relevant process industries like steel making and chemical production.

This is really exciting for us as it represents the principal development permit, unlocking the path to construction.”
MISSION
European EV and energy storage sectors heavily rely on Chinese lithium refineries, which emit substantial CO₂. To reduce dependence and environmental impact, Green Lithium's refinery can provide sustainable lithium hydroxide to European market players, ensuring stability and supply security.

HIGHLIGHTS
  • £6.4m total funding secured: £5.2m in equity, £1.2m in UK government funding
  • Carbon footprint lower than existing international refineries
  • Generating foreground IP in sustainability and circular economies
  • Proven team which has delivered multi-billion-pound programmes
