When I was little, my dad gave me a Chinese nickname: 可可, Keke. It comes from 可以, which means to be able. He chose it because he believed, before I'd done a single thing to prove it, that I could do anything.

Building Sene, there have been times where I ran out of belief in myself completely. My dad never ran out. He kept calling, kept encouraging me, kept telling me to keep going, especially in the moments I couldn't see a path forward.

I have a son of my own now, and I finally understand it. My dad wasn't waiting for me to earn his belief. He decided to believe from day one. That's who I want to be for my boy.

So today is simple. Thank you, Dad, for the name, and for believing in me when I didn't. Happy Father's Day.
