What 8 years of building Shoott has taught me

• Growth isn't always linear. Sometimes progress means pushing forward, and sometimes it means giving yourself grace during difficult seasons.

• Fear never fully disappears. Confidence can waver, especially when facing new challenges. What matters is continuing despite the uncertainty.

• People have different capacities. Learning when to support, when to adjust expectations, and when to let go has been one of the most important leadership skills I've developed.

• Strong relationships require both trust and structure. Clear communication and thoughtful systems help everyone do their best work.

• Results matter more than recognition. The most meaningful measure of success is the value we create for the people we serve.

• Taking care of ourselves isn't optional. Rest, movement, and well-being are essential foundations for doing our best work.

• Knowing whose advice to trust - including recognizing when our own perspective needs recalibration - is invaluable.

• Growth often requires reinvention. The strengths that help us start something aren't always the same ones needed to sustain and scale it.

One thing I've learned is that you're never truly "finished." Just when you think you've figured it all out, something changes and invites you to learn again.

The reason Shoott is here eight years later is because so many people chose to keep showing up: our incredible team, our talented photographers, and most importantly, our clients who trust us to capture life's milestones and everyday moments alike.
