AW 23 - Our Inspiration

The inspiration behind to our AW23 collection is one of the dwellings famous for housing the Huguenot weavers who once sat at the centre of the Spitalfields silk industry.

Theres something elegant about the gaunt, brick house which stands - shoulder to shoulder with its neighbours - in what was once the beating heart of Londons silk industry.

Each room sensitively restored, shares an integrity, a lightness of touch.

Soft light shines through old glass and casts shadows leading us from room to room; the patina of each surface tells a story, like layers of worn paint, a thread that winds its way through the building until we reach the weavers lofts, perched high on the roofs, lifted to the sky to catch the maximum light for those who once worked the looms within.

Colours and textures are inspired by those found in this unassuming East London house. Patterns and embroideries are informed by the history and the fabrics once created here. Sidelines aspiration is that our garments share the qualities of this building and its story - a timeless, simple and practical beauty.
