Abstract Art

What makes non-representational painting so attractive?

Rust II (2018) Juliana Do, Austria

What we call abstract painting today is rather a collective term for various art movements that developed throughout the 20th century and into contemporary art. We speak, for example, of Cubism and styles that generally tend to deconstruct nature. Unfortunately, it is has become all too common that the view and appreciation of female artists is neglected in art history.

The Swedish artist Hilma af Klint (1862-1944) is regarded as one of the first abstract painters – only last year, a retrospective at the Guggenheim Museum in New York was dedicated to her. To mark the occasion, we asked art lover Marie-Stéphanie Servos (journalist with ELLE) to curate a collection of her favorite abstract works by female artists in Singulart. Discover her exclusive selection with us!

Meanwhile, in the magazine we introduce Ryan Grant Little, one of our art collectors, and a member of the Singulart family, our logistics manager Nolan Goodyear.
