I've just returned from my first sailing with Crystal, and with our brand-new exclusive offers just launched, I couldn't think of a better time to share my experience with you and inspire your next sailing!
My first impressions of Crystal Serenity were extremely positive. From the moment I stepped on board, the ship felt elegant, spacious and very well maintained. The atmosphere throughout the public spaces was calm and welcoming with beautifully comfortable furnishings and the friendliness and professionalism of the crew also stood out straight away. Overall, the ship gave a very polished and sophisticated yet warm and comforting first impression.

I stayed in the Sapphire Veranda Suite, which was spacious, bright and very comfortable. The layout worked well, with a separate sitting area and private veranda allowing me to relax and unwind. The décor was elegant and understated with soft, neutral tones that created a calm atmosphere. The suite offered a walk-in wardrobe, so there was plenty of storage space, making it feel practical as well as luxurious. The bathroom was modern and large with a shower that offered multiple settings for whatever you preferred, which made the space feel well considered and easy to enjoy. The suite also included butler service; upon my arrival, the butler was there to guide me through everything I needed to know and attend to any requests throughout my time on board.
Life on board offered something for everyone, whether you wanted to sit by the Seahorse Pool with a cocktail or take part in one of the many daytime activities. There were courts for paddle and pickleball and you could also visit the gym, which had state-of-the-art equipment and a schedule for classes such as pilates and yoga. For entertainment and nightlife, there was the Galaxy Lounge for you to enjoy Broadway-style shows and cabaret acts and The Hollywood Theatre to watch films, guest lectures and live sporting events.

The dining experience on Crystal Serenity was exceptional; there was a variety of venues that offered something for everyone. The service was consistently excellent across the board, whether you were dining casually by the pool or in one of the speciality restaurants, and you could see the attention to detail reflected in every dish that was served. Every menu had a plethora of choices, and they easily catered to any dietary requirements. Each experience felt seamless, with virtually no wait time for anything to be served.
I was so lucky to try all three of the speciality restaurants on board. At Osterio D'ovidio, a venue serving showstopping Italian cuisine, I tried the burrata ravioli with mixed seafood guazzetto and tomato filets, Venetian fried fish that came with a small beer to complement the dish and tiramisu for dessert, which was made in front of you at the table. We also dined at Beefbar, where I had Korean bao buns, jasmine tea smoked Wagyu beef, steak frites & beef bar sauce and pavlova for dessert. I'd highly recommend trying here for lunch too!
I have to say my favourite dining experience was Umi Uma, it's the only Nobu restaurant at sea, so it's extra special! We were lucky enough to try almost everything on the menu and each dish was just as amazing as the next. The lobster tempura was my favourite dish I tried, followed by the famous black cod marinated in Saikyo miso with baby peach and young ginger. The service was incredible and the restaurant setting was equally impressive.

Throughout my journey around the Eastern Mediterranean, we were blessed with amazing weather, which made these picturesque ports look like something from a postcard. We visited Patmos, a serene Greek island we had to tender to, which I'd recommend to anyone as a real hidden gem, before sailing on to Bodrum and Heraklion. Whilst in the ports, we explored each town, taking in the sights and ate and drank at local spots we discovered along the way.
Whilst in Heraklion, we went on a shore excursion, the Minoan Palace of Knossos & Heraklion Town tour. The process was easy; once booked, the tickets were delivered to my suite the night before with details of the arranged meeting point. Once at the meeting point, your group for the excursion was called, and you disembarked for your transfer and to meet the guide. We then toured the archaeological site of Knossos, which was a fascinating glimpse into the grandeur of the Minoan world. Our next stop on the tour was the charming old town of Heraklion, where we strolled the streets, and the guide unveiled the stories behind its historic landmarks.

I had an amazing time cruising with Crystal; it exceeded all of my expectations. From stepping on board for the first time and hearing ‘welcome home’, that’s exactly what it felt like, a home away from home. Every member of the crew was warm and welcoming, and it was clear that they wanted every guest to feel valued. The food was exceptional throughout; there wasn’t a single dish that I could critique, and that standard remained consistent across every restaurant. The atmosphere on board was luxurious and relaxing, making it easy to unwind and enjoy every moment. |
