What Is Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response?
Also known as "ASMR," this phenomenon describes the relaxing feelings and physical sensations people get from watching and listening to specific noises or activities. Referred to as "triggers," these sensations are described as "tingly" and are often felt in the head, neck, and spine. Others find these sensations to be deeply relaxing, putting the listener into a trance-like state.
While this phenomenon is relatively new (believed to have been coined in 2010), millions of people worldwide claim to experience these sensations. It has even become so popular that many big name companies and celebrities have joined in (think this 2019 Super Bowl ad).
The funny thing about ASMR is that not everyone experiences the phenomenon. We predict that because of this it will remain a fairly niche community for some time.
If you happen to be someone who experiences these sensations, be sure to check out our SleepPhones®: ASMR Edition.
