Languedoc: a new wine identity to compete with the best?
In recent years, Languedoc's finest winemakers have reached a stylistic maturity that enables them to free themselves from the influence of wines from Bordeaux, the Rhône or Burgundy, and define their own winegrowing identity.
In fact, it's a logical continuation of the revolution that began thirty years ago in Languedoc. Tired of a production style focused on wines rich in alcohol and of little interest to the palate, a number of passionate winegrowers, convinced above all of the potential of their terroirs, demonstrated that great wines could be produced in Languedoc. Deserting the plains and reinvesting the best hillsides, they quickly established their wines in the wine-tasting world.
It's young generation has succeeded in producing wines, particularly reds, that reflect the region's personality: generous, with no imbalance or heaviness, and a Mediterranean palette of aromas.
