Final Design Refinements
Sonex Development Update:
Development work on the Sonex Phoenix continues toward completion as our engineering team works through the final details of the production configuration.
While there are no major configuration changes to announce in this update, several important refinements are being incorporated into the aircraft as we continue preparing the design for production, builder assembly and future flight testing.
Fuselage & Wing Structure Refinements
Recent engineering work has focused heavily on the connection bet ween the fuselage and wing structure.
The team has modified several fuselage attachment points and structural gussets, along with additional improvements designed to strengthen and better distribute loads through the fuselage-to-wing interface.
These changes are part of the normal design maturation process as we continue reviewing the aircraft structure, manufacturing methods and builder assembly sequence.
Our objective remains straightforward: create a structure that is strong, efficient and straightforward for homebuilders to assemble.
Tricycle Gear Development
Engineering work is also continuing on the tricycle landing gear configuration.
The Phoenix was designed from the beginning to support both conventional and tricycle landing gear configurations, and the team is now working through the details required to finalize the tricycle gear installation.
This includes evaluating the structural interface, gear geometry and surrounding fuselage components to ensure the final configuration integrates cleanly with the aircraft.
Closing In On the Production Design
At this stage of the program, much of the work is no longer about major changes to the airplane.
It is about refining the details.
These smaller details ultimately determine how well the aircraft goes together and how refined the finished kit becomes.
The Sonex Phoenix continues moving steadily toward its final production configuration, and we look forward to sharing more as engineering, production preparation and testing progress.
