In today’s edition, Joe shares:
  • Why the strongest warriors in history were the ones willing to start over
  • Why AI isn't replacing the Hard Way — it's the next hard thing
  • A free live session Wednesday where I show you how I'm using it
  • Your seat at the Adapt or Die Summit, August 7

Spartans!

For years I've told you to go outside.

Chop wood. Carry rocks. Sweat. Get uncomfortable.

I still mean every word of it.

But the point was never the wood. Or the rocks.

The point was building the kind of person who does hard things on purpose.

Last month I sat down and forced myself to learn an AI tool I'd been avoiding for six months. Felt like week one of Spartan training all over again. Slow. Awkward. My ego didn't like it.

I did it anyway.

Because here's what I know after 20 years of building this company: every generation thinks the world is ending. The tool changes. The excuse doesn't.

Right now the tool is AI. People are terrified of it, or pretending it doesn't matter. Both are cowardice dressed up as caution.

The Spartans didn't get a vote on whether warfare changed. New enemies showed up with new weapons, and you adapted or you died on the field holding the old ones.

Marcus Aurelius didn't sit around wishing Rome would slow down. He trained himself to meet what was actually in front of him — not what he wished was in front of him.

That's the whole game.

Your values don't move.

Discipline. Courage. Integrity. Service.

Those are bedrock. Non-negotiable.

Your tools have to move, or you get left on the field.

The Hard Way today isn't just another burpee. It's opening the laptop and being a beginner again. Feeling stupid on purpose. Asking the question you're embarrassed to ask.

That's uncomfortable.

Good. That means you're doing it right.

So this week, I'm not telling you to go outside. I'm telling you to sit down and do the harder thing.

Join me live this Wednesday.

Wednesday, July 8 at 2:00 PM EST, I'm walking you through exactly how I'm using AI to lead this company: no fluff, no hype, just what's working. If you're serious about staying relevant instead of relevant-adjacent, be there.

Then come find me August 7.

The webinar is the warm-up. On August 7, we're bringing entrepreneurs, athletes, and lifelong students together at Riverside Farm for the Adapt or Die Summit — to stress-test our assumptions and sharpen the one skill that's outlasted every empire, every invention, every excuse.

The ability to adapt.

RESEREVE YOUR SEAT

The future won't belong to the strongest. It won't belong to the smartest.

It'll belong to whoever's still willing to be a beginner.

See you Wednesday. See you at Riverside Farm.

The Enemy That Doesn't Announce Itself

The Spartans never got a warning before the weapons changed. No memo. No transition period. Just a new reality, and a choice: adapt or die on the field holding yesterday's spear. AI is today's new weapon. It didn't ask permission either. The warriors who survive won't be the ones who complain about it. They'll be the ones already training with it.

THE HARDWAY PODCAST
He was the best defender in the building, and still got benched for a 17-year-old. For six years, he showed up 90 minutes early, alone, with just cones and a wall.
