Asheville, Aug 1-2 
                          

  Tryon International Equestrian Center set the stage for the Asheville Event Weekend, its rolling grounds, mild mountain climate and scenic Blue Ridge backdrop making it a racer favorite for good reason. The course lived up to that reputation and then some: well-trodden horse trails, thigh-burning red clay climbs and rushing creek-beds that tested every ounce of dexterity racers had left.

Atlas Stones, sandbags up the mountain, barbed wire crawls. Streams and pine trees wove through a course that ran longer and harder than the map suggested. As one racer put it, "It's got streams, intertwined pine trees throughout and it's a huge Spartan playground."

The Elite races delivered from start to finish. Jordan Hausladen dominated the women's field, taking the Super win in 1:10:39 and backing it up with Sprint gold in 44:48. On the men's side, Dylan Coursey topped the Super in 56:05, while Cole DeRosa led the Sprint in 35:20. Grayson West and Dustin Livengood set a blistering pace throughout the weekend, trading back-to-back podiums of their own.

Heroico Colegio Militar hosted a fully stacked weekend of Honor Series racing, Ultra, Beast, Super and Sprint all on the card, anchored by the LATAM Championship. The heat was high and so were the stakes, with racers from across the region converging on the historic military grounds for every discipline Spartan has to offer.

The Beast Elite LATAM Championship race delivered a strong field. Ciro Pérez topped the men's podium in 1:45:37, ahead of Alonso Avisai Xopin Espinoza and Juan Leonardo Rojas Ruiz. In the women's race, Claudia Pavia led the way in 2:12:11, with Eloisa Godínez Romero and Dulce Velázquez Flores completing the podium just seconds behind. They now qualify for the World Championships.

For some, this was simply another step on a much longer journey. One racer wrapped up their Trifecta X10 for 2026 here, and with it, Lifetime Trifecta number 95, five short of a milestone that speaks for itself.

Indiana Aug 1 
                          

 Columbus, Indiana brought wooded lakeside trails and open farmland together for a long-standing Tough Mudder venue, one that's previously played host to overnight Toughest Mudder events. Mostly flat underfoot, but what the terrain lacked in elevation it more than made up for in mud, real Midwest, shoe-sucking mud that turned wet clay into something closer to ice.

Six thousand Mudders took on the challenge, and plenty walked away with more than a finisher's medal. Several closed out full Trifectas this weekend, adding Indiana to their collection alongside past events.

As one four-time Mudder put it best: it's never really about the mud, the shocks or the ice baths. It's about proving to yourself you can face any obstacle and still feel like a kid playing in the rain.
