Oh, Those Summer Feels

When my kids were growing up, summertime meant days at the beach and chili dogs and ice cream on the boardwalk. We’ve since moved, but that wonderful sense of the season hasn’t changed.

We’re still grilling outside, enjoying summer-ripe pie and ice cream, and lingering on the deck to make the most of these long, luscious days.

For me, this is joy. Yet it’s about to change. With both my kids going away to college, it’s our last summer before they’re off and independent. Even with all their comings and goings, though, summer has a way of making us feel together.

It’s those feelings of fondness that Spoonful of Comfort hopes to evoke in our current care package collection.  Enjoying—and sharing—summer comfort foods is a big part of nostalgic moments. For me, just the taste of a chili dog feels like school’s out and good times are in.

I hope you and your favorite people can feel the same way, too—even if there are miles in the middle. Summertime joy is meant to be shared.
