#UP2US To Stand Up To Cancer 2026

This August, SU2C relaunched #UP2US for its sixth year, bringing creators and communities together to raise funds for life-saving cancer research.

A major highlight has been the Stand Up Builders, a collaborative stream team who surpassed $100,000 raised. These funds raised will support SU2C and the 2027 SU2C Maverick Early Career Scientist Award, which helps researchers still early in their careers who are pursuing highly promising research.

Dr. Karuna Ganesh

The idea of a mini-tumor in a lab dish might sound frightening. But for Karuna Ganesh, M.D., Ph.D., a medical oncologist with Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York, these organoids, as they’re known, are vital research tools.

With SU2C funding, Dr. Ganesh has used organoids to study cancer plasticity—cancer cells’ uncanny ability to change and adapt to their environments. Dr. Ganesh’s work is instrumental in helping understand the underlying mechanisms of cancer, and how cancer research can lead to new treatments and ways of preventing cancer in the first place.

Isla Hardy

Everyone has a reason to stand up to cancer. For Isla Hardy, it’s her Papa George.

Isla is a 15-year-old competitive surfer from Santa Cruz, California. Surfing is in Isla’s genes. Her grandfather, Papa George, grew up surfing. Papa George, now 89 years old, has already gone through several skin cancer-related surgeries. And now he’s facing prostate cancer.

His example is why Isla is dedicated to fundraising for Stand Up To Cancer this summer during our Summer To Stand Up campaign.
