WHY ARE THE SHOWS IMPORTANT TO STOLEN GIRLFRIENDS CLUB?
“The shows are so important to us because they are how we get to express everything that we’re about, and everything that we’ve been working on. We get to bring people into our world for a night and completely immerse them into the fashion, the music and the brand."
WHAT INSPIRED THE NAME OF THE SHOW?
“The collection itself was inspired by vintage Americana, with rockabilly and western references. We really didn’t want to sensationalise America, although it’s one of my favourite countries, there’s a lot of fucked up shit that happens there. Instead we wanted to celebrate our home in West Auckland;
this show is an ode to Avondale."
WHAT DO YOU ENJOY ABOUT THE SHOWS EACH YEAR?
"I love the collaboration that our shows bring with them. This year we have an international stylist on the team and I love that they can come in with fresh eyes; it’s cool to see what they do with the collection as they always take it to another level. Similar to the music which is a big influence on the brand, we’re working with local and international talent to bring the show to life. Our public casting is important in this aspect too, we love to involve people outside of the modelling world to be a part of the show, which speaks to the brand’s identity of not conforming to tradition. This year a quarter of our models came from our public casting.
The combination of all the different people who work on the show together
— that’s what makes it come to life."
