For decades, the Aguirre family of Finca El Injerto have pushed the boundaries of quality, innovation, and sustainable farming practices in the coffee world. Stumptown is proud to have partnered with father and son team Arturo Aguirre Jr. and Arturo Aguirre Sr. for the last seventeen years.

In addition to producing and processing some of the highest quality coffees in Guatemala, the Aguirre family remains committed to respecting and preserving the natural environment. The forest reserve on El Injerto – which occupies more than half of the Aguirre's land – is the largest protected forest in the department of Huehuetenango.
A hydroelectric power plant powers the farm and generates a surplus that is sold back to the local grid, while recently installed solar panels mean that the operations are almost 100% run on renewable energy.

In 2017, Finca El Injerto became the first Guatemalan farm to obtain Carbon Neutral Certification.

The Aguirres' drive to innovate, not only in coffee quality but in farm management and sustainability, continues to inspire us.
