2018 in Retrospect

Before we dive head first into the new year, we'd like to take the opportunity to look back at the one we're leaving behind. Listed below are some of the highlights that turned 2018 into yet another year for the books of the rainy and (actually not so) melancholic history of Stutterheim. Let's have a look, shall we? Stutterheim x Marni AW18 FEBRUARY BBC News featured our Founder and Creative Director Alexander Stutterheim in a story called "The firm selling raincoats with added Swedish melancholy". MARCH Following the launch, the Chelsea Rainwalkers were prominently featured in both the print and online edition of The New York Times with the headline ”Stay Cool In The Rain". Read the feature here. APRIL We launched the online exclusive, lightweight coats Nora and Falun in a bright, springlike color scheme. On the opening day the temperature hit 31 degrees Celsius, and people were wondering if we were out of our minds (so did we). The Summer Rain store is now a permanent Stutterheim space. If you're ever in town, pay a visit at Västerlånggatan 40. AUGUST The AW18 campaign was presented. Shot by award-winning photographer Elisabeth Toll, featuring principal dancers Nadia Sellrup and Oscar Salomonsson from the Royal Swedish Ballet. Arholma Black NOVEMBER We opened up another Rain Store pop-up shop, this time in the middle of Stockholm city center. Creative Director, author and fashion editor Giovanna Engelbert (best known as @bat_gio among her nearly 1 million Instagram follwers) was spotted at the CF Hill Gallery in Stockholm, wearing the Opal red Öland cape from our AW15 collection. DECEMBER For the ultimate season of giving, we teamed up with the Swedish branch of UNHCR - the UN Refugee Agency – to donate a set of warming winter clothes with every full-priced order placed between December 1-24. For the Winter Sale, we continued the partnership, and decided to donate 10% of the sale price to UNHCR – instead of offering 50% off the product to our customers. The Stockholm Transparent raincoat launched as a contemporary, pre-spring fashion piece. We ended this year on a high note when Instagram reposted one of Natalia Seth's (aka @escapingyouth) magical photos featuring our Vladimir Rainbow raincoat to their follower base of 271 million (!) people. Our Vladimir Rainbow raincoat shared with 271 million people on the official @instagram account. And with that, we wish you all a rainy yet not too melancholic 2019.
