Dear SunMoon Care Family,
Today, I’m sharing a powerful nighttime routine designed to reduce the feeling of leg puffiness, support the release of excess fluid, and help your legs feel lighter and slimmer.
Step 1: Reduce Dairy Products
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, dairy products such as milk, cream, and cheese are considered rich, heavy, and difficult for some people to digest.
Consuming too much dairy will contribute to the accumulation of Dampness and Phlegm, which can leave the body feeling heavy and sluggish. You may also notice bloating, puffiness, or swelling in the arms and legs.
For the next seven days, try reducing or temporarily avoiding dairy products and observe how your body feels.
Step 2: Soak Your Feet with Traditional Chinese Herbs
For this nighttime routine, I recommend preparing a foot soak using the following traditional herbs:
Lotus Leaf
Lotus Leaf is traditionally used in Chinese medicine to clear excess Dampness, support digestion, and promote a lighter, less bloated feeling.
Mugwort
Mugwort is a well-known warming herb traditionally used to support circulation, particularly in the lower body, and ease feelings of coldness and heaviness.
Tangerine Peel
Tangerine Peel is traditionally used to promote the smooth flow of Qi, support digestion, and relieve bloating.
Cinnamon Bark
This warming herb is traditionally used to encourage circulation and ease coldness, stiffness, and heaviness in the lower body.
Sichuan Pepper Seed
Sichuan Pepper Seed is traditionally used to warm the lower body and relieve feelings of heaviness and discomfort in the legs.
Mulberry Twig
Mulberry Twig, also known as Sang Zhi, is traditionally used to ease stiffness and support comfortable joint movement.
How to Prepare Your Herbal Foot Soak:
- Place all the herbs inside a large tea bag. Boil the herbs in water so their natural herbal compounds can be fully released.
- Pour the concentrated herbal infusion into our SunMoonCare Premium Knee-High Steam Bucket. Add more warm water until it reaches approximately knee level.
- Soak and steam your feet and lower legs for about 20 minutes, or until your body feels gently warm and you notice a light sweat on your back.
In Traditional Chinese Medicine, this gentle warmth and light sweating are traditionally associated with helping the body disperse accumulated Dampness.
Step 3: Brush Your Legs Upward
After soaking, dry your feet and legs thoroughly.
Use your SunMoonCare Meridian Pressure Brushes to gently brush both legs upward, beginning at the ankles and moving toward the thighs.
Use slow, comfortable strokes. This upward brushing motion can help support healthy circulation and leave tired, puffy legs feeling refreshed and lighter.
