Most people think harvest is the end of the farming season.
For us, it's the beginning of the next one.
As soon as the combine finishes harvesting a field, another tractor is already following behind it, tilling the ground.
Why the rush?
Because we plan to start drilling next year's winter wheat around September 1.
To make that happen, the fields have to be ready.
After harvest, we have only a few days to till the ground and uproot the weeds before the soil becomes too hard and dry. That short window is critical.
In about 30 days, we'll till the fields again, and then one final time just before we drill. This helps create a smooth, level seedbed that's ready for planting.
That's the rhythm of farming.
One harvest leads directly into the next. It's a constant cycle of planning, adapting, and preparing for what comes next.
