Hi SWIISH Fam,
Something shifts for me in August.
Maybe it's knowing spring is only a month away. Maybe it's the new month energy. But I always find myself revisiting my goals - what I want to feel like, what habits I want to lock in before the year starts picking up pace again.
This August I've been getting back to weights at the gym. And on the days I can't make it - which happen, because life - I'm doing workouts at home instead of using it as an excuse to skip altogether. Consistency over perfection. That's the goal.
The 10 minute rule: One thing that's helped me stay consistent is the 10 minute rule. On the days I really don't feel like it, I tell myself 'just 10 minutes'. I almost always then keep going for the full workout. And on the days I don't, I don't beat myself up - I give myself credit for showing up.
Sunday sessions: The other thing that's changed everything is my Sunday prep session. I work out what I'm going to wear every day for the week, decide on our weeknight dinners, grocery shop and meal prep my work lunches. Then, I make sure to schedule in something that's just for me - whether that's an infrared sauna or coffee with a girlfriend. When Sunday is sorted, the whole week feels much more manageable.
Sleep .... it's not going well: One area I still haven't nailed is my sleep. My Oura Ring showed me that I generally go to bed between 11pm and 2am. I know. I know. It's something I'm actively working on as I know how important it is to get enough quality sleep, and in particular, the hours before midnight are the most critical.
One thing I have nailed though? The perfect ombré vanilla iced latte. Better than any barista, if I do say so myself.
I posted this recipe on my Instagram a few days ago and the response was overwhelming. Here it is if you missed it - save it, you'll want to make it this weekend.
